Bobby Ward, Director at Vorto Trading, shares the progress of an up-and-coming boxing Champion sponsored by Vorto Trading
One of our passions at Vorto is supporting people who are just starting in their career, just as my business partner, Rob, kickstarted my career when I was 15 years old. When we heard about a young boxer called James Branch, we wanted to give back and sponsor the youngster, so he could pursue his dream of becoming World Champion.
The former Repton ABC star, 23, made his professional debut on the 23rd June at the iconic O2 Arena after signing with the legendary Frank Warren. James is following in his father’s footsteps and aims to make it to the big time. Thousands of boxing fans witnessed and celebrated James’ fight win, including the Vorto team who had the privilege to watch this superstar take his first pro-win with the Vorto logo proudly stitched on the Champion’s shorts.
“My first professional fight was an amazing experience, stuff I’ve dreamed off since I was a young boy,” James Branch tells Vorto. “It was a very different experience from anything I’ve ever experienced: being under the big lights, live on telly and a camera in my face. But I loved it walking out on the big stage in front of thousands with everyone chanting my name was the best night of my life to date.”
Rob and I visited James during one of his final pre-fight training sessions at the Peacock Gym in Canning Town which is considered one of London’s best loved and respected community gyms famous for its champion boxers. These include the likes of Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis.
“I’m motivated to keep training as I know where boxing can and will take me and change mine and my family’s life. And obviously my winning drive keeps me pushing forward. I want to be the best fighter in the world and I won’t stop until I get there!”
Sponsoring James meant we were able to facilitate him boxing full-time and focus purely on achieving his goal of becoming World Champion.
“I love everyone at Vorto. They have made my life so much easier and I can’t thank everyone enough for what they’re doing for me. My next fight is 6th October at Leicester Arena, so my camp is just getting prepared for another big night!”
The bill, on 6th October, will feature a title fight for double Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams, highly-rated Daniel Dubois versus Kevin Johnson and super-lightweight Jack Catterall v Ohara Davies. We know it will be a night to remember, and another stepping stone for James in his pursuit of success.
Vorto understands and respects James’s determination and desire to be the best, as it is so closely linked to our own business ethics here at Vorto. We will continue to support James in his burgeoning career and know that there is a bright future ahead for us both.
